About Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain and discomfort by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. It is well documented that Reflexology is effective in relieving the symptoms of injury and illness and is used help natural and assisted conception.

Reflexology is a popular alternative therapy, which promotes relaxation, improves circulation, reduces inflammation and pain and encourages the body's natural healing process.

The underlying theory behind reflexology is that there are reflex points on the feet that correspond to the specific organs, glands and other parts of the body. A reflexologist using finger and thumb pressure techniques will work over the reflex points to identify any imbalances and will work specifically on those areas to release congestion and aid healing.

Foot Reflections

The Sitting Person

Picture
The picture to your left shows a sitting person and the anatomical position of the pelvic organs and lumbar spine, next to which you will see the foot, showing a mirror reflection as to where those organs and spine can be found on the foot.   The right is showing the entire spine reflection in the foot. Notice how our spine and our feet have a similar curvature?
