Maternity Reflexology

What is Maternity Reflexology?

Pre-conception - Pregnancy - Post natal - Newborn
Reflexology is a popular safe non invasive therapy for all stages of Maternity.  It comforts woman and helps alleviate the confusing and adverse affects of the physiological changes as they arise, through self healing and self regulating capacities. A professional well trained Reflexologist will know how to identify what is really needed during the session by interpreting all the information regarding aspects of you health, lifestyle and environmental factors.

What are the Benefits of Preconception Reflexology?

Preparing to get pregnant is a time of excitement and enormous change in a person path to parenthood. This life changing event is paved with worry and stress.  Expectant mums and dads are often surprised to find that through the mountain of ovulation sticks and cycle apps and certainly not through the want of trying, cannot get that little blue line to show.  This is the most important time for couples to seek peace and calm within. Trying to conceive through natural means or assisted conception brings up an unique sense of worry no one can explain or really understand unless you've been there. Reflexology prepares your body and mind, not only for you as a couple, but the precious egg meets sperm connection.

Reflexology can help prepare you for motherhood.

  • Regulates period cycle times
  • Increases blood flow to the uterus
  • Improves sperm function and prostate imbalances.
  • Remove toxins from the body
  • Reduces cortisol and adrenaline
  • Repairs imbalances in the endocrine system
  • Reduces inflammation with conditions such as PCOS

What are the Benefits during Pregnancy?

Pregnancy is lifechanging and in some cases very challenging . Hormonal changes, which provoke an alteration in many physiological functions can have an impact on mum to be.  Reflexology can help restore balance, allowing mum to adapt. Regular sessions educate the body for the rest of the pregnancy and for birth.

What are the benefits Puerperium (Post-Natal)?

After Labour, the body rapidly begins to recover.  The sudden change often prompts woman to think about getting 'back to normal', loose the weight, gain control.  The birth of a new baby is often a confusing, conflicting,  exhausting, sore and wonderfully magical.  This up and down roll coaster can be very unsettling and mums (not forgetting the dads) can feel alone, even among the barrage of family members by their side. The perfect moments can come much later on in some parents  journey.

As hard as it is, I do recommend mums to come as soon after birth to recover. Babies are treated for free with mum, baby is normally on mums chest and tucked in tightly to avoid any worry or concerns.

Breastfeeding and nappy changing area is available.

How can Reflexology be Beneficial to the Newborn?

The incredible power of touch is key and absolutely necessary to the new-born. Reflexology and massage are beautiful therapies. Their mind and body are pure and unaffected by life, therefore respond very quickly to sessions. Children need touch, touch and more touch, and research has shown the more touch the less problems they may have with common issues such as colic and constipation.
